Mona and Kyle, first crowd sourced the idea by approaching EMAC faculty and students for their YouTube suggestions. They then curated this playlist out of many of their personal online video picks and the suggested ones.

Ask A Ninja is an award-winning series of comedy online videos by Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine, featuring a ninja who answers e-mails from viewers. The first episode was released in November 2005. In January 2009, Forbes listed The Ninja as one of the top “Fictional Celebrities” on the web.
“I Am Ninja” song  is performed by German band The Neu Tickles and written by satirist Brently Heilbron.

Simon’s Cat is a flash animated cartoon series on youtube by the English animator, Simon Tofield whose three cats -  Hugh, Jess and Maisie – provide inspiration for the series.
Since its first release in 2008, the series has achieved global attention and one of his shorts “Let Me In,” racked up over 1 million YouTube views in just a week.

Jay Smooth is the publisher of ill Doctrine a hip-hop video blog and the seminal HipHopMusic.com. He is also founder of New York’s longest running hip-hop radio show, WBAI’s Underground Railroad. Ill Doctrine has been cited the “Best of 2008″ podcasts in iTunes.

In his 2006 race,  George Allen, former Republican Senator from the Commonwealth of Virginia, was brought down by a cellphone video that captured him using a racial phrase when talking to a staffer.
In 2008, The Washington Post speculated that, were it not for this single utterance, Allen would have been a strong candidate for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.

David Choi is a 23-year-old Korean American musician and YouTube video producer in Los Angeles, CA. As of November 2009, Choi is the 21st most subscribed musician on YouTube with 167,828 subscribers and 4.7 million channel views.

In September 2009, Team Manager for Freebord.com, John Laudin, came up with the idea for a multiple free-boarder styled event.  With a call-out for participants in the community, the company pulled in 36 free-boarders, and the video was shot and then posted to youtube.
In just a month, and after being advertised on sites such as msn.com, CollegeHumor.com and The Huffington Post, the video drew in over 1,000,000 views.

In February 2008, the Baltimore Police Department suspended a police officer after a video surfaced on the Internet showing the officer berating two kids for skateboarding.

MadV  is an anonymous YouTube video director and video persona who wears a replica Guy Fawkes mask,  popularized by Alan Moore’s graphic novel V for Vendetta. MadV is known for the viral campaign known as One World, which stands as YouTube’s most responded video of all time. He has been featured on the YouTube front page, and has been nominated for Most Creative Video in the ‘YouTube Video Awards 2006.

Val is an artist who makes YouTube videos of herself painting in time-lapsed video. She uses her videos to sell her paintings on eBay  and her own website. Val has 39,594 subscribers to her videos, which have been watched more than a million times.

lonelygirl15 was an interactive web-based video series which began in June 2006, and ended on August 1, 2008. Lonelygirl15 first came to international attention as a “real” teenage blogger named Bree, who achieved massive popularity on YouTube.
The show was eventually proved as a hoax by suspicious viewers and gradually evolved into a multi-character show including both character videoblogs and action sequences.

In Spring 2007, a remake of the famous 1984 Apple commercial went viral on the web mashing up the original footage with Hillary Clinton’s speech. The ad was made by  “parkridge47″ who was later identified as Philip de Vellis, an internet strategist, who wanted to portray the opportunity for citizen ads.
Within a few months, “vote different” was downloaded by millions of people. The San Francisco Chronicle called it “a watershed moment in 21st century media and political advertising.”

Matt Harding is an American video game designer who became an  Internet celebrity for his dancing videos in front of various international location.  His first video featured 15 different scenes and received 20,000 hits a day. In 2008, Harding created a second version of the “Dancing” video which has received 24,699,622 hits on YouTube so far.
His YouTube channel is ranked  #83- Most Subscribed (All Time) – YouTubeDirectors.

The Guild is an award-winning online sitcom about the lives of an online guild ”The Knights of Good.” Each webisode is 3–8 minutes long and the first episode was posted on July 27, 2007.  The show follows the life of Codex, the healer of “The Knights of Good,” played by actress Felicia Day who is also the show’s script writer and producer.  The Guild won the 2007 YouTube Video Award for Best Series and Rolling Stone named it one of “The Net’s Best Serial Shows.

In June 2009, Ahmadinejad’s landslide victory in Iran’s Presidential election, led to violent riots across the country. With foreign media outlets no longer able to rely on their own people on the ground, eyewitness YouTube clips posted by ordinary Iranians, became the only source of information.

DeadLine is a senior project, created by a student at Savannah College of Art and Design, Bang-yao Liu. This stop-motion animation took 3 months of planning, 4 days of shooting, and over 6000 post-it notes.
Since June 2009, Deadline has had 2,816,640 views on YouTube, and even caught the attention of actor Ashton Kutcher who twittered about the piece.

This online video collaboration was organized by YouTuber “Stevie Bee Bishop” as a reaction to all the hate directed towards lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people on the internet. It features 23 YouTubers lip-syncing to Lily Allen’s song “fuck you.”

TETRIS is the 4th video performance of the GAME OVER Project, directed by the Swiss artist Guillaume Reymond (NOTsoNOISY creative agency). This stop-motion video was shot and played for “LES URBAINES” festival at the Palais de Rumine (Switzerland) in November 2007.Since its broadcast on youtube, TETRIS has been Viewed 10 million times.

“I Got a Crush… on Obama” was first posted on YouTube in June 2007 featuring a young woman seductively singing of her love for U.S. Senator (now President) Barack Obama. The video recieved over one thousand views within the first five hours of its posting, and by the second day the American news media took notice of the video’s growing popularity.
The concept was the brainchild of 32-year-old advertising executive, Ben Relles, and was produced by BarelyPolitical.com. Actress and model Amber Lee Ettinger lip-synched the song for the video, and Leah Kauffman (of “My Box in a Box” fame) provided the vocals.

Improv Everywhere  is a comedic, flash mob, performance art group based in New York City, formed in 2001 by Charlie Todd. Its slogan is “We Cause Scenes.”
Improv Everywhere’s videos have been viewed over 78 million times on YouTube and their channel is the 64th most subscribed on the site.Their most popular YouTube video has been “Frozen Grand Central” which has received over 18 million views on the site.
